Bollywood Hungama was the first one to report yesterday that Sunny Villa, owned by actor Sunny Deol and situated in Mumbai’s Juhu area, will be e-auctioned for non-payment of dues amounting to Rs. 55.99 crores. The information came out in public after Bank Of Baroda published a notice in The Times Of India dated August 20. The notice further said that the e-auction will be held on September 25, 2023. The ad also informed readers that Ajay Singh Deol aka Sunny Deol is the borrower and guarantor, Vijay Singh Deol aka Bobby Deol and Dharmendra Deol are guarantors and Sunny Sounds Pvt. Ltd. is the corporate guarantor. After the news went viral, Sunny Deol’s spokesperson released a statement, “We are in the process of resolving this issue and the issue will be resolved. We request for no further speculation on the same.”
Some news outlets also mentioned that since a settlement is possible in this case, Sunny Deol is ready to go all out to save his property. And now, it has come to light that superstar Akshay Kumar has come to the rescue of Sunny Deol.
A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Akshay Kumar had a meeting with Sunny Deol on Sunday, August 20, hours after the news of the notice spread like wildfire. He immediately decided to help the Gadar 2 (2023) actor. As part of the deal, Akshay Kumar will be paying a huge chunk of the debt. Sunny Deol will then repay the loan to Akshay Kumar in a stipulated time. The next step for Sunny Deol is to immediately initiate a meeting with the bank officials.” The exact amount to be loaned by Akshay Kumar is not confirmed though sources claim it’s around Rs. 30-40 crores.
An industry insider commented, “If this is true, it shows how our film industry is indeed like a family where people come to help in times of need. And it also shows Akshay Kumar’s large-heartedness. He’s truly one of its kind.”
Recently, Sunny Deol-starer Gadar 2 and Akshay Kumar-starrer OMG 2 released on the same day, on August 11. It was heartening to see that both wished well for each other. Akshay, in fact, promotes Gadar 2 in OMG 2 as he sings Gadar’s classic song ‘Udd Ja Kaale Kaava’ in an important scene.
A few days after the release of these movies, Akshay Kumar promoted the hashtag #OhMyGadar and put out the ‘Udd Ja Kaale Kaava’ scene of OMG 2. The text in the post was, “A big thank you to our audiences for all the love for #OhMyGadar and giving us the greatest week in Indian Film History! प्यार और आभार #Gadar2 in cinemas #OMG2 in cinemas”. It was rare to see an actor promoting the film of another actor in such a manner and it immediately won hearts.
Interestingly, Sunny Deol and Akshay Kumar have worked in just one film together, Jaani Dushman (2002). Akshay also appeared in a song in Blank (2019), featuring Sunny Deol and also Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna’s cousin, Karan Kapadia.
