Veteran film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh has heaped praise on Akshay Kumar’s latest film, OMG 2, calling it an entertainer and an enlightener.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Adarsh said that he watched the film five days before its release and was impressed by it. “I told Akshay – ‘Isko Adult certificate kyun diya?’ (Why did [CBFC] gave it an adult certificate?),” Adarsh said. “That was my first reaction. I said this film is a rocket. Nothing can stop it.”

Elaborating on why he called it “enlightening,” Adarsh explained, “This film is about sex education, doesn’t hurt religious sentiments. At the same time, there’s a message of good touch and bad touch, which is so important for the kids to know while they are growing up.”

“I hope when it comes to OTT or wherever on TV, a large section of youngsters watch it and see the message that it intends to convey,” he said.

For the unversed, OMG 2 is a sequel to the 2012 film OMG: Oh My God!, which was also a critical and commercial success. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam. It is directed by Amit Rai and produced by Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna.

The film was released on August 11, 2023, and has been receiving positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
